Between 1976 and 2005, an insurgency was waged in Aceh by the Free Aceh Movement (Gerakan Aceh Merdeka, or GAM), who wanted the province to be independent from Indonesia. This film was created by WELDD partner in Indonesia, Solidaritas Perempuan. It documents women's stories of the conflict, charting women's involvement in war and peace-making, and the way their contributions were forgotten once the war ended. It is a rare video documentation of this little-known conflict, and it is unique in telling the story of the conflict specifically from women's perspectives.
The film is in Indonesian with English subtitles.
