Développement de l’autonomie et du leadership des femmes pour la democratisation
In April 2014, the WELDD programme ran a training workhshop in Dakar, Senegal on women's public and political participation. The fifth of it's kind under the WELDD programme, this workshop was designed to target women from Francophone African countries. It brought together women activists from Senegal, Mali, and Niger, to share experience and strategies for change, and to learn from experience trainers about topics including feminist leadership models, women’s rights advocacy, communication strategy, interacting with the law, self-care, and sustainable activism. The sessions were grounded in the current context of these activists’ work and covered the challenges of movement-building in the face of rising political Islam.
