Africa: Ghana's 1st Annual African Women's Leadership Conference: "Building Bridges: New Partnership for Transformational Leadership"
An International Leadership Conference to promote women and girls' inclusion and active participation in leadership in Africa and the African Diaspora.
The African Women's Leadership Conference seeks to convene dynamic and diverse participants interested in the empowerment and inclusion of women from Africa and the African Diaspora in transforming organizations and communities and creating sustainable change.
Though there are increasing numbers of African women in leadership positions, the barriers still exist and in some areas have hardened. Research says many professional women prefer to start their own ventures to avoid the stress of fighting against the glass ceiling. In the sometimes turbulent business climate, the challenges facing management are greater than ever before, not least of which is that of finding and keeping a diverse and inclusive cadre of senior leaders and managers. While most employers agree that people are their most important asset, many executives, systematically exclude dynamic and experienced women, during leadership succession planning.
The AWLC is designed to provide a platform for analyzing obstacles and opportunities for women leaders, exploring new leadership and gender frameworks, enhancing communications, mentoring, networking and research skills, and sharing personal, organizational and community experiences.
The conference is designed for participants from the private, non-profit and public sectors who have a keen interest in promoting women and girls' inclusion and active participation in leadership in Africa and the African Diaspora. Representative titles include corporate president or vice-president, president of the board, executive director, senior posts in national and international non-profit organizations, and senior elected and appointed public officials.
Participants from across Africa and around the world, representing all sectors and job functions, are invited to attend. Each participant will bring a unique background, experience, and perspective to the conference.
