Women's Empowerment and Leadership Development for Democratisation
Edna Aquino and Ngozi Nowosu share their insights on women human rights defenders and the challenges they face with the Centre for Women's Global Leadership, in this video from 2009. They discuss religious and cultural taboos around sexuality and about spreading institutionalising knowledge about women's sexual and reproductive rights and health, issues which remain central to women's rights work today.
In 2009, both Edna Aquino and Ngozi Nowosu were engaged in the Violence is Not Our Culture intiative and the Global Campaign to Stop Killing and Stoning Women. In the years since this video was filmed, Edna Aquino become Coordinator of WELDD's CVAW work, and BAOBAB partnered with WELDD to take forward their work against child marriage.
